MUSEUM OF MOTOCYCLES AT THE CASTLE KAMEN

One of the parts of the Castle Kamen is a very popular exhibition of historical single track vehicles and bicycles, that were manufactured in the area of the current Czech republic at the turn of 19th and 20th century.

It was the National Technical Museum in Prague, companies ÈZ Strakonice, a.s, JAWA MOTO Tynec nad Sazavou and some private collectors who loaned the exhibits to the Castle´s museum.

You can see there 46 motocycles, bicycles and tens of other exemplars accompagning the exhibition.
 

The unique object is the motocycle Walter B-type from 1913.
 

  • This motocycle comes from the company Walter, which was founded in 1898 by Josef Walter. Firstly, the company manufactured bicycles, but later, it changed its specialisation to motor vehicles, tricycles and cars. In 1937, the total fabrication transformed from cars to aircraft engines. After the war, in 1949, the company changed its name to Motorlet, national enterprise and nowadays it is known under the name Walter Engines.

Another beautiful part of the collection is the motocycle Hildebrand-Wolfmüller, the only exhibit that comes from abroad.
 

  • Alois Wolfmüller was the first inventor, whose motocycle was fabricated in series from 1894, under the name Hildebrand-Wolfmüller. In the beginning of his career, Wolfmüller worked in a factory of the well-known Karl Benz.

The medieval, gothic castle Kamen is situated about 15 km to the west from Pelhøimov.
